Sarah Chalke
Sarah Chalke was born on 27 August 1976
in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Angie Chalke is her mother and Doug Chalke are her
father. She is the middle child with one older sister, Natasha Chalke, and one
younger, Piper Chalke. Sarah's acting debut was in City Boy (1992), a movie
made for TV. After her debut film was a success, Sarah auditioned for the role
"Becky" of Roseanne (1988). Following the time that Alicia Goranson
left the show to attend college, the show was searching for the perfect replacement.
Sarah graduated from highschool in 1995 and was a part in the production of
Roseanne (1988) between 1994 and 1995. In 1994, Sarah starred alongside Jim
Varney in Ernest Goes to School (1994). Sarah was also in Robin of Locksley
(1996) and Stand against Fear(1996). In these films she played the character of
Krista Wilson, the cheerleader. Sarah was asked to appear in a 1998 show called
Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy. The show was released one year following
Roseanne (1988). Based on the show Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy (2000), Sarah
also was a part of the show. Took over the role of Becky in Roseanne (1988)
from Alicia Goranson in 1993. She said she wanted to quit acting and attend
college. (2001) (1993-1997) Played older sister to Sara Gilbert on Roseanne (1988)
however she is younger in real life. Attended the 1999 CCMA award ceremony and
was awarded an award to the most successful single of 1999. (September, 1999)
Appeared on local Vancouver theatre productions aged 8 years old. She is fluent
in French and German. She works at a hospice for children who are terminally
ill and works for the Audrey Hepburn Children's Fund. Chalke loves cooking with
her colleagues, particularly Thai as well as sushi and playing the guitar. She
also likes to ski (she is an instructor) Kayaking, snowboarding, kayaking and
reading. Her father is an attorney and both of her parents run an agency for
adoption of children. She traveled with her parents to China two years ago to
help coordinate the adoptions of many orphans.
